01 · About Me

Hello, I’m Jennah.

Jennah Sarhan outdoors

I’m a student, songwriter, and writer who is curious about the way stories travel between people and places.

I spent part of high school in England before returning to the Philadelphia area. Along the way, music became the place where I could write privately, revise patiently, and eventually share something of my own. I am also interested in writing, media, art, sports, and projects that make complicated information easier to understand.

02 · Music

Writing what I couldn’t say.

Music has always been a part of my life. I've played piano since the age of 3. I began writing songs at thirteen, after moving to England and teaching myself guitar.

I wrote privately before sharing my songs with other people. Music gives me a way to turn an idea or a feeling into something I can perform and share. All of my music is under the name Jennah Sophia.

03 · Writing

I love stories in every form.

Whether it is a song, a poem, an article, a story, or even a marketing campaign, I love thinking about how ideas are communicated—and how they are received.

Writing lets me experiment with voice, structure, and point of view. The form may change, but the question that keeps drawing me back is similar: what makes someone recognize themselves in a story?

04 · Hobbies

The things I return to.

Some interests give me energy. Others slow me down. I need both.

Tennis & Soccer

Competition, movement, teamwork, and the satisfaction of getting a little better through repetition.

Art

A different way to observe details, experiment with composition, and make something without needing to explain it.

Recording Music

Learning how performance, arrangement, sound, and technology turn a written song into a finished recording.

05 · Community

Learning, then building.

My community work includes Project Nepal and my experience as both a volunteer and an intern at Community Grocer.

Through Community Grocer, I learned more about food insecurity in the United States and about how difficult it can be to find clear, practical information about public benefits. That experience motivated me to found MySnapBenefits.com: a plain-language resource that helps people understand SNAP, prepare to apply through official channels, estimate maximum benefit amounts, and find food assistance.

My SNAP Benefits

I created MySnapBenefits.com to help people find clear information about SNAP and reach official state resources. I wanted to make the first steps less confusing.
